| Around 240 head of slaughter cattle sold today. The market was
lower today in most classes of cattle, most notably in bulls and Holstein
slaughter cows as compared to last week. Bulls were hit the hardest and
averaged $8 lower. Holstein slaughter cows ranged $5-6 lower as compared to
last week. On the bright side, demand for beef cull cows was strong by
comparison and ranged only $1-2 lower. The Holstein cow market was very
consistent today throughout the sale with similarly conditioned lean cows who
had good cover ranging in the mid to upper $80’s. Highlights of today’s sale
included some nice groups of 18-24 month aged open Angus heifers from
